We are living in a time and a world where we are collectively brought face to face with our own grief, fear, pain and anger, where we are asked what it means to live in our complex humanity as beings who experience pain and pleasure, grief and joy, anger and compassion, fear and love.

How do we gently expand our ability to tenderly and wholly be with ourselves and each other?

Somatic Counseling sessions support you in returning to your wholeness, body as sanctuary, emotional thriving, nervous system support, stress reduction, trauma integration and overall well-being.

SOMATIC COUNSELING SESSIONS

DRAW DEEPLY FROM THE WELLS OF…

THE HAKOMI METHOD

The Hakomi Method is an experiential, somatic approach that supports clients in exploring and transforming stuck patterns through mindfulness-based and body-centered guided self-inquiry.

Immersion into the self in mindfulness is altered state work, accessing the unconscious mind and healing at a very deep level.

After an immersive mindfulness session, you might notice that the world looks different, colors look more saturated and you feel more whole and in your body.

This work is deep, ya'll. For this reason, we work slowly and respectfully through the layers together.

Hakomi is excellent for those who have some experience with mindfulness and are ready for a deep dive experience.

SOMATIC TRAUMA TOUCH SKILLS

The Tao of Trauma is a body of touch-based work developed by Alaine Duncan and Kathy Kain to support trauma resolution and embodied aliveness.

This modality is primarily for healing trauma, chronic stress and the nervous system. With your permission, sessions include gentle touch or holding parts of your body, while asking you to notice and be with sensations in your body.

After a somatic trauma healing session, you might notice an ability to better cope with stress and anxiety, decreased pain, better sleep and greater nervous system resiliency.

Clients describe this work as “magical” and “wild,” often surprised by how quickly they feel shifts in their nervous system!

For babes with limited experience in mindfulness, ready to embark the path to reclaiming their embodiment, this is a great place to start together.

EARTH-BASED PSYCHOLOGIES

East Asian Medicine is a thousands-year old medical system that understands our bodies as nature. This system is the OG “somatic" in that it recognizes the body-mind as one unified whole.

Similarly, modern ecopsychology believes that human beings are nature and that we cannot fully heal without healing our relationship to nature / ourselves as nature.

Somatic Counseling sessions integrate the wisdom of earth-based psychologies, bringing traditional East Asian Medicine practices, such as Qigong and self-acupressure, along with plants, elements, stones and bodies of nature into the room as co-healers.

Hello!

I'm Jeevan

ABOUT ME

My name is Jeevan Singh (she/they). I am queer multiracial Punjabi-Ecuadorian-Boricua transdisciplinary healer, doctor of East Asian Medicine, somatic practitioner, amma (mother), writer and tender human being.

MY TRAINING

I hold a doctorate in East Asian Medicine and a masters in Integrative Mental Health, with advanced training in the Hakomi method of somatic psychotherapy, the Tao of Trauma and several other healing modalities and ongoing mentorship and consultation.

While I am trained in mental health counseling, I am *not* a licensed psychotherapist and do not diagnose, treat or prescribe in these sessions.

THE HEALING WORK

The work I offer locates itself at the intersections of liberation-based somatics, mindfulness and mental health, traditional medicines and ecopsychology, personal and collective liberation and the pelvic bowl.

I am forever honored to support my clients, students and communities in their movement towards cultivating radical self-compassion and embodiment, reclaiming pleasure and deep rest and remembering that our healing is healing for the collective.

When not at work, you can find me making altars with my child, snuggling my cats and dreaming into our new garden.

what does a session look like?

Because each body is unique, each session is unique. However, here is a general idea of what you can expect from our time together.

INITIAL SESSION

Our very first session together will be a chance to meet one another, learn about you and what brings you to this work, get to experience the work itself and decide if it's a good fit. In this first session, we will explore how we might want to work together moving forward.

If we decide to work together, here's what you can expect:

SOMATIC COUNSELING SESSIONS

OPENING THE SESSION
Generally, each session opens with a mindfulness practice to ground ourselves and focus on an emerging or ongoing theme for our work together.

THE HEART OF THE SESSION
Depending on your needs, the heart of our sessions will often be process-oriented, and may include the Hakomi method or Tao of Trauma nervous system work.

During our session, you might hear me invite you to…

>> Pause & notice an experience in your body

>> Slow down and integrate what is coming up

>> Stay with a sensation or experience in your body

>> Attune to a body of nature

>> Explore our therapeutic relational dynamic in the present moment

>> Notice where you are on your nervous system map & how this is experienced in your body

CLOSING THE SESSION
At the close of each session, we will spend time to integrate and close the work. This may include reflecting on what has shifted for you in the session, and what you'd like to take with you from the session.

AFTER SESSION: HOME PRACTICES
A self-tending practice might organically emerge to take home with you. These might be a somatic practice for nervous system tending, grief ritual, self-compassion practice, nature wander, ancestor altar, visceral organ self-massage, plant allies - all as part of your emotional wellness routine.

Themes We Explore

In Somatic Counseling sessions, there
are countless themes that may emerge, including:

01

inner child work, healing attachment & re-parenting

02

exploring & processing chronic stress & trauma in the body

03

rites of passage, including relational transitions, birth, death & parenthood

04

boundaries & containment, connection & expression

05

the range of the human experience, including grief & pleasure, joy & sacred rage, to name a few

06

self-compassion & welcoming home all of your parts

“The body is a multilingual being. It speaks through its color and its temperature, the flush of recognition, the glow of love, the ash of pain, the heat of arousal, the coldness of non-conviction. . . It speaks through the leaping of the heart, the falling of the spirits, the pit at the center, and rising hope.”

Clarissa Pinkola Estés

RELATIONAL HEALING

There is a saying that “what gets wounded in relationship heals in relationship.” our therapeutic relationship in the present moment serves as a foundational element of the work, getting to explore attachment and connection through our therapeutic relationship.

TRAUMA, THE NERVOUS SYSTEM & THE SPIRIT

In many traditional healing systems, including east asian medicine, there is the belief that when we experience a trauma, a part of our spirit flees, in order to maintain safety. through a western neuroscientific lens, we witness the prolonged effects of unresolved trauma on the nervous system. this work embraces both a traditional viewpoint of healing the spirit alongside a nervous system healing lens.

SOMATIC MINDFULNESS

mindfulness is simply paying attention to present moment experience. somatic mindfulness invites this quality of noticing into the whole body-being, not just our thoughts. somatic mindfulness is at the core of all of our work together, a continual invitation back towards your body as a site of intelligence, story-telling and healing.

HEALING IS RELATIONAL

Healing returns us to relationship
Relationship to our body as earth
And to the body of the Earth
Relationship to each other
And to the elements, animals & plants
To our ancestors & descendents
And this is the place where we get to practice relationship

Time commitment + cost

Where & how often do we meet?

Somatic Counseling sessions are 60-min long. We will meet weekly or biweekly (every other week) either over Zoom or in my office in-person in SE Portland, Oregon.

In 2025, I plan to include sessions outdoors, most likely at Mount Tabor. If you are interested in outdoor work with a greater ecological embodiment focus, let me know.

My current availability is daytime west coast hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

How long will we work together?

This work is long form, meaning that we will ideally work together consistently for all 4 seasons - one full year, with a few extended breaks over summer & winter.

2025 Container is Now Open

Because nature and the seasons play into our work together, I find it powerful to work along with the seasons in this way.

Each season, we check in to refocus and recalibrate our work together.

Beyond the initial year, we may decide to continue working together.

Often clients notice considerable shifts start to happen within the first three months of working together.

What is the cost of sessions?

Sessions are sliding scale $175-$225 per session, with limited slots at $150 per session for those most in need.

Sessions are charged the day of each session.

Because this work is not licensed psychotherapy, I am not able to bill insurance or give a superbill.
